Customer Support to Software Enginering
Author: Mercy Igwe.

First of all, welcome to my tech corner.
My journey as a tech enthusiast started about a year ago when I engage one of my colleagues at work who happens to be a tech bro. I was amazed at his achievement, exposure, and skills at that moment, I realized that I could achieve way more. Being that my role is just evolving around engaging customers and resolving their issues as I start my day with "Thank you for calling, how may I be of assistance to you" and end it with "do enjoy the rest of your day". I felt limited in my potential in a customer support role. I love my job but still, I wanted more. want to build, create and analyze everything in tech. from building software to managing the software.
The opportunity came when I stumbled on an ALX Holberton School scholarship program on my LinkedIn page. I did my research and I found out the program is a leadership, employment, and entrepreneurship development organization, and software engineering was among the courses I did not hesitate to apply for the program and kept my finger crossed. A week later I got a congratulatory letter which in detail said I have been accepted but had one-month probation to be fully accepted to the program with an aggregate of 80% project score. I had to prepare my schedule because I not going to quit my job and am not declining the offer.
The program started fully on the 15th of August 2022. I joined the induction events, and buddy group. Met with great mindsets through a slack forum and other peer social learning groups which were provided for excellent communication.
Combining my job with work is not easy. I decreased my social media presence cos I have to split time with both. Most days I had to stay up late to meet deadlines.
My probation period was over, and I excelled with a 160% aggregate score. I have learned so much that I would never imagine. With the numerous task projects and live sessions. And materials. I fully navigate the shell terminal and write codes with bash. Have full knowledge of GitHub,
Am fully socially active, currently learning my first programming language, and am sharing everything here.
Stay tuned for more blogs about my newly acquired world as am going you share more about my first programming language and my first collaboration project using the language,
